For admissions to the science and arts colleges in India, the lowest average cut off marks is generally 50% to 55%. In many colleges students are required to sit for an entrance test, particular for admissions to the honors degree courses. Short listed candidates are then called for a personal interview. Some colleges in India do no conduct any entrance test and select students on the basis of their 10+2 marks. For admissions to engineering, MBA and medical colleges, there are common entrance tests held at the all India level. CAT (Common Admission Test) scores are considered for admissions to the 7 IIMs in India. Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA) selects students for PGDM-C program based on CAT or GMAT score.
Similarly different institutes have their own selection procedure for admissions to the various courses. Students should collect the admission forms along with the prospectus of various colleges and submit them on time. There are also special admission quotas available for Christian students in various catholic institutions. Colleges also reserve seats for students under the SC/SCT category.
